My goal is to see this happen around the State of Texas. The red light camera interest should know that the State of Texas is full of people that long to be free. Enforcement without due process is not something that will stand in Texas. We will watch the court proceedings closely, but I believe that once the red light camera interest force the city to pay for the cost of election, some where between 70,000 and 80,000 they will all move on to oppress other people and other cities.

Did you see the story about the guy in the Phoenix AZ area that passed all of the photo-enforced sites with a monkey mask on? (STORY) They estimate that he was caught over 90 times. By the time they tracked him down, only 30-something of them had not expired. He sent them all back though, because the law requires a positive ID on the driver. A year earlier in the same area, people dressed as Santas wrapped the photo cameras so that people couldn’t get tickets. (STORY) Around the same time (2008) Maryland students realized that they could use photos of their teachers’ plates, speed through photo-traps, and their teachers would get the tickets. (STORY)

In Texas, the can not be photographed for privacy reasons, an appropriate protection. However, that means that citations are issued to the registered owner of the vehichle. In College Station, citizens who received a ticket were considered guilty (not innocent until proven guilty). The “appeals” process involved going to a judge, or sometimes the clerk, and presenting your side of the story. The judge or clerk would make a decision right there and you were done. No appeals, no option of a jury trial, no presentation of evidence. When our city council refused to correct this violation of Constitutional Law, we took action. Our council seems to be as corrupt as yours. Our Red Light Cameras are gone. Now we just need to get rid of the current Council Members.
